Winterwords is so much more than a writers’ festival, it’s five days of talking, listening, watching, and doing which aims to foster the celebration of words!
Attend a panel discussion or an author talk, participate in a workshop, listen to, or tell a story, listen to a band, attend a play reading, go to a performance, see an art exhibition, listen to or share some poetry, play some word games, chat in the pub by the open fire.
Activities take place in many of our wonderful heritage and civic buildings such as the Beechworth Soldiers’ Memorial Hall, Beechworth Town Hall, the Beechworth Library, the Stanley Soldiers’ Memorial Hall, and the Old Gaol.
There’s music, fun, stories, and games at our pubs, such as Tanswell’s and Tiny’s. Other activities, such as our art exhibition, kids’ drama performance, poetry workshop, and play readings are run in collaboration with other community organisations such as the Mayday Hills Arts Society, The Beechworth Theatre Company, and the Dragonfly Project.
With so much to do over a week in winter, Winterwords is truly a unique event.
